SUNFLOWER STARRY NIGHT
AHA Artists Workshop

Friday, June 24

2 – 4 pm

Kailua location
No charge, tip jar only.

Relax and follow along as Wendy Roberts shows you step by step how to easily and joyfully paint “Sunflower Starry Night”, a fun image based off of two of Van Gogh’s iconic paintings.  All materials are provided, and participants will have their very own version of the painting, done using acrylic paint, to take home at the end of the night. The class is flexible, allowing for complete beginners to follow along, and experienced painters to improvise and edit the image to suit their own style. Wendy will teach tips and tricks for expressive, effective handling of acrylics in a thick and painterly style.

Everyone benefits from having a creative outlet, and for those who find they enjoy making art, the process cultivates a meditation-like flow of thought that is healthy for the mind and body. This is why she loves to teach painting to anyone who wants to give it a try!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

With an emphasis on painterly realism, Wendy Roberts is known for painting birds, landscapes, portraits, and figures, often featuring botanical elements.  Currently, her award-winning art is in many private collections, displayed in homes and businesses throughout the United States, as well as on the streets of Kailua and Kaimuki where she completed several public murals of varying sizes celebrating indigenous and endemic (often endangered) wild marsh birds.

She is highly involved in the local art scene’s non-profit sector, including serving on the boards of both Windward Artists Guild and Association of Hawaii Artists.  Additionally, she helped during the launch of Downtown Art Center, assisting with establishing an online presence and social media.
